My name is Sourabh Chakraborty. I’m a software engineer at the New York City Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity, where I help make websites for people to get help from the government, including ACCESS NYC and Jobs NYC.

In my free time I help out with Block Party, an archive of transcripts of NYC community board meetings, especially with data analysis; we made an exhibit for the 2023 Data Through Design exhibition. I also volunteer as a document drafter for the Asylum Support Clinic, helping asylum seekers file their applications for asylum. I took a class on New York City government through Maximum New York, which I would recommend to others interested in improving local government.

I graduated from Cornell University in 2020 with a major in Computer Science and an independent major in Social Interaction & Political Belief. At Cornell, I did a senior thesis analyzing trends in political language on Reddit; the code for that is partly available on GitHub, but I hope to summarize my work in a cleaner way at some point.
